Tara Gibson
Founder and Executive Director, Roe Your Vote Virginia
Tara Gibson is the founder and Executive Director for Roe Your Vote Virginia PAC as well as the founder and principal at Ground Game Strategies.
Tara has worked in Virginia politics for 15 years. From the Obama for America campaign to Planned Parenthood to The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy, she has dedicated her career to building relationships and making tough asks that help move Virginia forward. She has worked on both issue and electoral campaigns and understands how to use those opportunities as building blocks to strengthen and achieve progress in the Commonwealth.
Prior to starting her own business, Tara launched a new campaign centered on the Care Economy, namely, paid family and medical leave. In 2020, Tara noticed a shortage of progressive lobbyists, specifically women, in Virginia and seized the opportunity to help fill that void. So, she took a leap of faith in the middle of a pandemic and branched out on her own to start a government relations and consulting firm: Ground Game Strategies.
After the fall of Roe in 2022, she launched Roe Your Vote Virginia: a new PAC focused on helping abortion-rights candidates run and win in Virginia’s 2023 General Assembly elections. With the help of Roe Your Vote Virginia, Virginia Democrats held on to their majority in the Senate and flipped the House in 2023- thereby stopping Gov Glenn Younkin from banning abortion in Virginia.
