Florida State House, District 113 (FL HD-113)
Gloria Romero Roses
Gloria Romero Roses is a lifelong entrepreneur and community leader running for Florida House District 113, representing Miami-Dade neighborhoods including Little Havana, Shenandoah, The Roads, Silver Bluff, North Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, the Venetian Causeway, Downtown Miami, Edgewater, and Brickell. Born in Bogotá, Colombia and raised in South Florida by a single mother, Romero Roses graduated from Florida International University and earned her MBA. Throughout her career, she has worked in real estate, affordable housing, and community development, leading major development projects and helping revitalize neighborhoods across South Florida. She also owned and operated an assisted living facility — an experience shaped in part by caring for her mother through nine years of Alzheimer's — and has served on the boards of the Univision Foundation, genCLEO Action, the Women's Fund of Miami-Dade, and as a longtime advocate for the Alzheimer's Association.
Romero Roses is running to level the playing field for everyday Miamians by tackling the rising cost of living, including property taxes, insurance, and housing costs. If elected Romero Roses will work to accelerate affordable housing development by streamlining local permitting, providing low-cost financing to developers building financially viable affordable housing, lowering the workforce housing income cap to $75,000, and allowing small-scale construction on vacant lots. She will expand access to affordable healthcare, strengthen insurance navigator partnerships, and champion improved elder care, including efforts to prevent and detect Alzheimer's dementia in a county with the highest case rate in the nation. Romero Roses is committed to expanding childcare access and helping small businesses thrive amid rising energy, rent, and insurance costs.
