Rep. Fawn Pedalino, a member of the Republican party, is running for re-election to the South Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 64, which includes all of Clarendon County and parts of Sumter County. In 2023, she was among the co-sponsors of the South Carolina Prenatal Equal Protection Act of 2023, which would make women who had abortions eligible for the death penalty, although she later withdrew her sponsorship. Fawn cosponsored a bill restricting access to medication abortion, and voted to ban abortion on multiple occasions. She has been endorsed by, and given 100% rating by, the Palmetto Family Alliance, a religious organization that advocates against gay marriage, against abortion under all circumstances, and is for the influence of church on the government. Pedalino also voted to require schools to out children and for school vouchers.
