Texas State House, District 118 (TX HD-118)

KRistian Carranza

Kristian Carranza is running for Texas House District 118, bringing more than a decade of grassroots organizing experience to the state capitol. Kristian was born and raised on the Southside of San Antonio by a single mother and grew up relying on school meals and Pell Grants to attend college. That upbringing gave her firsthand understanding of the cost-of-living pressures facing working Texas families. She began her career in community organizing to amplify the voices of everyday people. She helped register 10,000 voters across Texas, helped neighbors enroll in discounted health coverage under the Affordable Care Act, and managed staff and multi-million dollar budgets.

Carranza’a campaign focuses on kitchen-table issues including protecting healthcare, making housing affordable for working families, lowering the cost of childcare, strengthening support for public schools and teachers, and expanding job training to help families compete for higher-paying work. Kristian will protect Medicaid and lower healthcare costs. She also wants to make sure public education is properly funded and supports essential services for veterans and seniors. After more than ten years working on the ground in her community, Carranza is ready to take that fight to the state capitol and ensure her constituents have real representation in their government.
